Brandon Lee Osterbuhr

Brandon Lee Osterbuhr

March 3, 1999 – November 29, 2021

Age 22

Brandon first came in our lives when he was pulled in a wagon by his teacher through Chris’s classroom and caught her eye. Then three years later Chris was Brandon’s Speech Language Therapist at The Children’s Center and when Chris found out he needed a permanent home he became our foster child on September 8, 2003, which has become known as “Gottcha Day”. Then on October 8, 2004, Brandon became our adoptive son and took on our last name and gained 4 older sisters and 1 older brother. The Judge asked Brandon what he thought of this; we let him know Brandon was nonverbal so the Judge said, “it looks like you have no choice Brandon”. This day became his “Keep ya Day”.

Of Brandon’s first 13 years living in Grand Island, 9 of those were in our home, and he was always happiest when he had mom, dad and his 4 big sisters and big brother in the same room. He became the glue that held the family together. He loved his sisters and brothers so much. He was an avid fan of his sisters and the Islander Soccer, Cross Country, Cheerleading and Show Choir and any other activities his sisters participated in. He was an avid Crusader fan and loved going and seeing his big brother play football, wrestle and pole vault. Though he loved watching his sisters and brother as they played, truth be told, the hot dogs, pop corn, candy and sprite kept him coming back. Brandon’s infectious smile and belly laughs won him many a friend in Islander and Crusader Nation.

The next 9 years Brandon lived in Omaha and Bellevue with his mom and dad. He attended Omaha South High School from 2014 to 2015. He then went to Integrated Learning and completed school in 2020. His final year was cut short by Covid-19. Brandon and his dad filled the days with many adventures which always included a trip to his Happy Place, his favorite place in the World, HyVee. His adventures also took him to New Orleans, Birmingham, AL, Deadwood, the Badlands, and locally exploring Loess Hills, Papillion, Bellevue, Sarpy County and the surrounding Omaha area. He also loved the Sarpy County Fair and daily rides. All trips in the car included the radio on top volume and dancing, lots of dancing!

Brandon remained at home with his mom and dad until his death. He left our home the same way he came into it … surrounded by love, reminding us once again,  this is B’s World and we just live in it.

He is survived by his parents Tom and Chris Osterbuhr; siblings Katelyn Wilee (Mark), Denise Morris (Jay), Meghan Osterbuhr, Jason Osterbuhr (Christine), and Alyson Osterbuhr; niece Luna Rose Osterbuhr; nephew Dennis Thomas Osterbuhr; aunts, uncles and other loving family members.

Brandon was preceded in death by his grandparents; uncle Jim Osterbuhr; and aunt Sue Hanson.

Sadly one less light in the world, but little Brandon Lee will light up the heavens.

Tom, Chris & Family, Sorry to read about Brandon passing. My lasting memories of Him will be Himself looking up to Tom when they were seen together in Public. Tom would always include Brandon’s presence. Thoughts and Prayers from G.I. & the Riha Family. 🙏

So sorry for your loss. I worked at Hyvee from 2017-2020 and would see Tom and Brandon saying hi to everyone when they would visit. It was always so easy to see how much Brandon loved Hyvee!

I’ll always remember seeing you two in Hy-Vee in Grand Island (more than once) and the joy in B’s face at being there in his favorite place with his dad. This sweet angel hit the jackpot when he found Chris and Tom and became their son. Blessings to you and all your family!

Thank You Tom and Chris for sharing your lives and Brandons life with us. As well as your other son and daughter’s. The Holy scriptures teach us of a future resurrection of both the living and those who have gone before us since the very beginning of our creation. And that it is at that moment we will receive new uncorrupted, uncontaminated eternal bodies in which to dwell, inhabit, move about and have our being. It is with this hope and expectation that we will all see Brandon again…Totally whole, healed, renewed and restored in his new incorruptable body…Amen,Amen and Amen…Blessings everyone! Love you Brother and Sister.
