William “Bill” M. Stenger

William “Bill” Mark Stenger

June 11, 1940 ~ April 4, 2019

Age 78

William (Bill) Mark Stenger was born on June 11, 1940 in Lindsay, NE, to Angela and Bill Stenger. He graduated high school, immediately enlisting in the United States Army and was stationed in Alaska. After returning home from the Army, he met the love of his life, Bernice (BC) Krings from Humphrey, NE. They married in Humphrey, NE, on June 8, 1963, and made their home in Kearney, where Bill attended college.  After graduating from Kearney State College, they stayed in Kearney and started their family, before moving to Grand Island, NE, in 1971.  In Grand Island, Bill owned an accounting firm and also started selling real estate. After several years in Grand Island and the birth of two more children, they moved to Bellevue, NE, in 1975 where he worked as a realtor for 40 years. Bill enjoyed gardening and was an avid Husker fan, hosting tailgates, attending football games and going to Husker film nights each week.  He loved boating and entertaining his family and friends at their lake cabin at Hansen Lake. He was a doting and loving grandfather with a contagious energy for life and fun, who would prioritize spending time with his nine grandchildren above all else. In retirement, he returned to his childhood roots, purchasing two farms in southwestern Iowa. He loved the land and being outdoors making trips to his farms several times a week. He shared that love of the land with his children and grandchildren who he would frequently invite along for family adventure at the farm, four wheeling or riding in the tractor. He was a man of great integrity, with a generous spirit, a passion for life and love for his family and friends.  He will be dearly missed.

Preceded in death by his parents, William and Angela Stenger; siblings, Mary Jane, Madonna, Jacqueline, Adrian, Richard and Mary Jo Stenger; brother-in-law, Gary Boettcher and sister-in-law Mary Jane O’Gara.

He was a great man. He always sharpen my lawn mower blade. He would only charge me a couple of six packs of Budweiser. He will be truly missed.

I am so sorry for your loss. Bill was a wonderful real estate agent and friend. He was generous and willing to help and always so much fun. Although I haven’t been in Bellevue for awhile, I have rich and wonderful memories of my time as an agent at Century 21 Century with Bill. He will be missed.
