Shirley Ann (Weers) Lewis

August 11, 1941 ~ June 11, 2024

Shirley Ann Weers was born in Fairbury, Nebraska, the second child of William and Lucille (Sparks) Weers. After growing up on the family farm, she graduated from Diller High School in 1959.

Shirley had a long career as an accounting clerk in Lincoln, Nebraska, first for Centel Corporation and then at NebHelp. She loved counted cross stitch, square dancing, bowling, and fill-in puzzles.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Lucille Weers, her brother, Richard Weers, and sister-in-law, Judy Weers.

She is survived by her daughters Kathy Huggins and Shari Piper (Dave), grandsons Andy Huggins (fiancée Kirstina Michl) and Brian Huggins, brother Darrel Weers (Nancy), sister Carol Benzel, nieces and nephews Tonya Thornton, Casey Benzel, Shawn Weers, Steve Weers, Tracy Dickes (Kevin), and Tyler Weers (Diana), and many other loving family members.

Visitation:  Thursday, June 13, 5:00 ~ 6:00 p.m., Bellevue Memorial Funeral Chapel.

Graveside Service:  Friday, June 14, 11:00 a.m., Prairie Home Cemetery, Diller, NE

In lieu of flowers, memorials suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, she is loved beyond words, and missed beyond measure.

    It was such an honor and a pleasure to know Shirley, and to be able to take care of her. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity she will be missed dearly. I will never forget that beautiful warm smile! My prayers are with you all.

    I did not know Shirley but know her sister Carol. If Shirley was anything like her sister Carol, she will be Heaven’s best! Carol is a very sweet and lovable neighbor of mine. My heart and prayers to all the family.
