Ryan Paxton Brevik

Ryan Paxton Brevik

August 17, 2005 – July 30, 2022

Age 16

Ryan didn’t live a long life, but it is still hard to summarize his almost 17 years in a short bio.

Ryan aka Ry or Ry-the-Guy had several diverse interests and friends. He loved cars (his first word was car), computers, video games, music, street wear, designer sneakers, Star Wars, MCU, good food, and thrifting. He was team commander of the marksmanship team and a member of the CyberPatriot club. He took advanced Spanish and AP Physics for fun.

He was genuinely a good person who decided to be himself even when others gave him grief for it.  He had many friends. He was a fun guy to be with. He was witty and funny and smart, and the world is a lesser place without him.

It’s important to know that Ryan lost his life to depression–a disease that is stigmatized, misunderstood, chronic, painful, and debilitating. In Ryan’s case, it was also fatal.

Ryan will always be loved and remembered by the many people who had the privilege of knowing him.

Preceded in death by his uncle Curt Albrecht; great grandparents.

Survived by his father Nick Brevik (Melissa); mother Bridget Brevik (Ryan Lareza); sister Keira Brevik; step siblings Daniel & Ana Brown; paternal grandparents Mark & Carol Brevik; maternal grandmother Beverly Albrecht; step grandparents Debbie & JoJo Lareza, Tom & Audrey Gretzinger; loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

It is very difficult to find any words that seem appropriate to let you know how saddened I am to hear about the loss of your son. You have my deepest sympathy.

Bridget and family, we are praying for you all during this difficult time. Surround yourself with the great memories of Ryan. God will hold you and get you through this darkness. Sending much love and hugs.

Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted (Matthew 5:4) May God’s loving presence comfort you, His perfect peace restore you, and His promise of eternal life sustain you during this time. Praying that our Lord, who loves you so dearly, will speak blessings and comfort to your heart in the coming days.
