Rodgers W. Bickerstaff

Rodgers was born on April 11, 1941 in Coraopolis, PA and departed this life on March 15, 2023 in Bellevue, NE.

Preceded in death by his parents Glenn A. Bickerstaff, Sr. and Gretchen Bickerstaff; brother Glenn A. Bickerstaff, Jr.; father-in-law and mother-in-law John P. and Adelyn Lavenz; brothers-in-law John T. and Nicholas Lavenz; and sisters-in-law Rebecca Lavenz and Mary A. Wirtz.

Survived by his wife of 35 years, Kathleen (Kathie); stepdaughter Angela Larsen of Omaha, NE; stepson Pete Miller of Plattsmouth, NE; stepgrandsons Cole Larsen and Jack Larsen; brothers-in-law Richard Lavenz of Loveland, CO, Robert Lavenz and Lawrence Lavenz both of Waterloo, IA; several sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Education:

BS from Dennison College in 1963

MS from University of Illinois in 1968

MBA from University of North Dakota in 1973

He spent 12 years as a USAF Officer.  Later he worked in IT and Property Management, as well as a developer and manager of a day ski resort.

He was a member of the West Omaha Rotary Club for 20 years and Countryside Community Church for 40 years.  He was also a member of the Omaha Woodturners Club.

Rodge was an avid downhill and cross country skier, golfer, tennis player, runner and  birdwatcher.  He took up the hobby of woodturning in retirement and made over 2,000 pens as well as many bowls, vases and other objects.  He prided himself on his ability to invest successfully for his family’s future.  He volunteered for many Rotary, wood turning and church functions and also for the Alzheimer’s Association.

Rodge’s quiet manner, easy smile and unwavering support will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Countryside Community Church, West Omaha Rotary Club or the American Heart Association.

Memorial Service: Monday, May 22, 2023, 11:00 am, Countryside Community Church, 13130 Faith Plz, Omaha, NE 68144, with inurnment at the Omaha National Cemetery at 2:30 pm.
