Robert Hall, Col USAF (Ret)

November 26, 1941 – April 2, 2022

Age 80

Veteran of 27 years with the USAF and 16 years with the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Department.

Donald Robert Hall was born in Lubbock, Texas, on November 26, 1941. Robert and his wife Dottie were married for 60 years and 10 months at the time of his passing, and had two children, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Robert had a passion for education during his lifetime, where he completed an associate degree, two bachelor’s degrees, and a master’s degree along with many other certifications and trainings.

Robert joined the United States Air Force in March of 1967, where he served for over 27 years before retiring at the rank of Colonel in May of 1994.  During his time in the Air Force, he served as an F-100 fighter pilot in Vietnam, and an F-111 fighter pilot in Thailand for the remainder of his career.  During his USAF career, Robert received numerous decorations and medals such as the Defense Superior Service Medal, Distinguished Flying Cross with one oak leaf cluster, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal with twelve oak leaf clusters, Joint Service Commendation Medal, and Air Force Commendation Medal.

Following his retirement from the Air Force, Robert joined the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Department in June of 1995, where he served as a Deputy for over 16 years until his retirement in January 2012.  During his time with the Sheriff’s Department, Robert expressed a passion for firearms instruction and provided training to each new deputy serving the citizens of Sarpy County. Robert implemented the Patrol Rifle Program, which is still utilized today by the department.

Robert also had a passion for the Martial Arts. After retiring from the Air Force, he pursued this passion where he achieved the Secretary General of the Philippine Martial Arts Alliance, Master Instructor of the Martial Arts International, Instructors Training Program Director, and Colored Belt Curriculum Director.   Robert held a 4th Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do/Tang Soo Do, 2nd Degree Black Belt in Philippine Combative, and 1st Degree Black Belt in Combat Hapkido.

Robert lived a full and adventurous life; he will be missed by all those that knew him.

Robert is survived by his wife of 60 years Dottie; daughter Malia Huxhold (Matthew Lombardi); son Dewayne Hall (Sheri); five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother Charles Hall (Jeannie).

Funeral Service: Monday, April 11, 12:30 p.m., at Bellevue Memorial Chapel.

Interment: Omaha National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.

    I really enjoyed my time with Robert and Dottie. I miss Robert. Fortunately, Dottie has a great support system with her family and friends.
