Barbara and family so sorry to hear about your loss. Brother Joe was a wonderful example of God’s goodness and joy. My memory of Bro Joe is him singing “wouldn’t take nothing for my journey now”. He meant it. God bless and comfort all of you.
Bro. Gastineau was a man of faith. I will never forget when he was elected as our District Global Missions Director, he wept with a burden as he gave his acceptance speech. He had faith bigger than any bank account, and both gave and compelled others to give, so that the gospel would be taken worldwide. I always loved his calls, and the faith he would share as we spoke. I loved his worship, and the joy with which he lived out his faith. While my heart aches with the grief of the loss of those calls, and your friendship, I rejoice because Bro. Gastineau started strong, lived well, and finished faithful. I’ll see him in the rapture!

I first met Joe around 1970 when I first worked at Tupelo Children’s Mansion. He was perpetually positive, encouraging and had a word of encouragement. We saw each other off and on for the last 50 years at different church events across the USA and was always the same. Heaven is better but his wife, family and friend will miss him greatly.

I am blessed to have ever known y’all. Great people off God! The first song I thought of when I heard of Bro Gastineau’s passing was, “We’ll shake hands in that land where all things are new” sung by The Singing Webb’s. I know they will both be so happy to see him! Praying for God to comfort the family at this time. Love y’all very much!

Pastor Joe Gastineau was a special friend to our family and the Ottawa church. He located our first building and had it painted for us when my dad and mom arrived in Ottawa to plant a church. I remember his kindness and his banjo playing. I’m so grateful for his positive impact on our family. He was also a special friend to my wife’s grandfather Rev. Chambers. We love and are praying for your family!
Thought and prayers to the family! Joseph Gastineau was a great neighbor for many years on burt st and touch many lives! Our conversations will be missed.
