Rayford S. Young Sgt USAF (Ret)

Rayford Young, age 70, of Bellevue, Nebraska, passed away peacefully December 18, 2018. He was born to parents Joel and Louise Young on December 21, 1947, in Fort Worth, Texas. Rayford had nine siblings, Vaschelle, Valerie, Andrea, Joella, Derrell, Dwight, Garry, Reginal, and Roy. Rayford is survived by two daughters, Bonita and Kimmarchia Young, and four grandchildren Tanisha, Fotima, Kamron and Omar.

After high school, Rayford joined the U.S. Air Force and served 21 long years as a fire protection supervisor and rescue sergeant. He traveled the world throughout his long military career, including his service in Vietnam. In one of those deployments, Rayford was stationed in Upper Heyford, England, where he met his future wife, Susan Doreen Hurley. Rayford and Susan had daughter Kimmarchia Young, born in 1982, while they still lived in England. After long honorable military service, he retired from the Air Force at Offutt Air Force Base in Bellevue, Nebraska.

Rayford enjoyed sports, especially his favorites-football and basketball. His favorite sports team was the Dallas Cowboys from his hometown. He loved music and social gatherings. He was also a great father, grandfather and friend.  He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and spoiling them. Rayford was a fighter and a true hero who loved his country. He is survived by his daughter Kimmarchia Young and grandchildren Tanisha, Fotima, Kamron and Omar. Rayford will be missed as a father, grandfather, brother and a great friend.

 Rayford is gone but shall never be forgotten!

Graveside Service 10 a.m. Friday, December 21st at Omaha National Cemetery, 14250 Schram Road, Omaha 68138.

    Albert and I are so sorry my darling, Please know you are truely loved. Your Dad is always with you and family if not in person yet in spiritual love. Your heart grew bigger because he left you his love in yours.

    I love your dad! He was a good man. Kim praying for you and your family. Just know God has blessed your dad to be out of pain and back home with him. Love you and be strong friend!
