Chip was hard working, strong, loving, and gentle. He loved his Family and was devoted to his wife and daughter. He loved to spoil his grandson Zachary. As they were rebuilding a 1975 chevy nova. I think he was teaching Zachary a big lesson in life about hard work and you can tackle anything life throws at you. You will always be remembered!
I worked with Chip at Pete’s Discount Tires, 36th S Street, from 1978 to 1982. I joined the Air Force and when I was on leave I always stopped in to see him. I ended up with two of his cars: 1965 Chevy SS Impala and his 1964 SS Impala with factory 409 4 speed.. We always had a few beers after work at Pete’s with the gang and then headed to the Out Post Bar down the street. Chip was a great guy, mentor, and a part of my hot rods days. I am glad he was a part of my life. RIP my old friend. Hope your Chicago bound.
