Norman Guy Grant, Jr.

Norman Guy Grant, Jr. Age 86 Bellevue, NE Passed away June 25, 2016 after battling dementia. Born in Old Fort, North Carolina, October 9, 1929, a small town of less than 300 in the foothills of the Black Mountains. He joines the Air Force after high school and dedicated those years to our country. After serving in Okinawa, he was stationed at Offutt Air Force Base where he mett Pat, his wife of 62 years, at Stella’s. They began by socializing in a large group of friends and it took them a while to decide to date. They married on February 6, 1954 at St. Mary’s Church in Bellevue and this union resulted in four daughters; Sandee, Sherry, Patty and Julie. Norm worked as an engineer for Western Electric for over 30 years. He loves to fish and hunt and enjoyed selling jewelry with Pat at local fairs and markets for many years. He enjoyed going to the Aksarben horse races and even owned a race horse for a year. Most of all he enjoyed his family, especially the grandkids and great-grandkids all of whom brought him great joy. Norm lived a good life and left a lasting impression on all of our hearts. Stormin’ Normon’s gone fishing…….finally catching all the big ones that got away. Norman is survived by his wife Pat; four children Sandee McDowell (Jim), Sherry Packett, Patty Rhode (Len), and Julie Petr (John), all of Bellevue; brother Joe “Freddy” Grant (Charlotte); sisters Goldie Piercy and Betty Ann Crawford (Larry) all of North Carolina; grandchildren Rachel Ruff (John), Becky Kuta (Craig), Jenny Skagerburg (Tim), Erick Maxwell(Allie), James McDowell, Brent Packett, Kelsee Packett, Lenny Rhode, Michelle Alexander, Zach Rhode, and Ben Petr; great-grandchildren Cheyanne Rhode Alexander, Cole Alexander, Abbie Alexander, Dakota Serefko Rhode, Lexanne Rhode, Arian Rhode, Ellie Rhode, Anne Ruff, Owen Ruff, Jackson Packett, Maddie Skagerburg, Amelia Maxwell, Ethan Skagerburg, and Brynn Kuta. No Visitation Celebration of Life: 10:30 a.m Wednesday June 29, 2016 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Bellevue, NE Inurnment: Bellevue Cemetery. Memorials to St. Mary’s School Endowment Fund and Columban Fathers.
