I Served with Nich on Bellevue fire. the news of his passing hit everyone hard. prayers to his family . Nich was always fun to be around and to run calls with
Worked with Nich the last 5 years at Sarpy. He was a wonderful officer, always there to lend a hand when someone needed it. I may not have worked with him much due to being on opposite shift, but over the years I remember him talking highly of all his passions from Boy Scouts to fishing and everything in between. We survived a tough week of training together back in 2022. You were a great friend McVay, you will be greatly missed by your friends, family, and brother and sisters at Sarpy Corrections. Rest easy!
Nich and I joined the fire department on the same day. We had a great time going on rescue calls together. . He was always happy to be volunteering. We were really close and did a lot of things for each other,. He was such a proud dad from day one. He was the best dad, doing everything with his son trying to teach him how to be a good man..and taking his son to all his Scouting events, volunteering there also, which is where he convinced me to volunteer with him as cpr instructor and as the medical director at the Jamborees . I wasn’t sure about doing either but he convinced me it would be fun and I ended up having a great time working with him again. and the scouts. I will miss him greatly.. RIP Nich!!!!
Nich took tremendous pride in running different Scouting events. He was an excellent Scouter and had a positive impact on a countless number of lives. He will be greatly missed.
I am so sad to hear about Nich’s passing. He was a true servant leader and I am grateful for the opportunity I had to know him, and serve with him in Scouts. Nich was my son’s Cub Scout leader for 2 years. When our boys moved up to Boy Scouts, we served as leaders together in Troop 463. Not sure why, but for 2 years Nich and I shared a tent on every campout. Nich’s snoring was legendary, but I didn’t mind, I was and will forever be grateful for his friendship. I am also eternally grateful for the life lessons and skills he taught my son…these are precious gifts that he will carry throughout his life and pass on to his children one day. If Scouts camp in heaven, the first place I’ll go when I get there will be to find my friend Nich. Sending prayers to your family during this awful time.
