Nancy Catherine Thoma

Nancy Catherine Thoma

March 24, 1939 ~ April 23, 2023

Age 84

Nancy was a longtime member of New Life Baptist Church. She developed a “Prayer Shawl”  Ministry utilizing the knitting and crocheting talents of herself and other ladies to create, pray over, and distribute beautiful wraps to anyone sick or hurting brought to her attention. She was always available to work her culinary skills into works of art in the church kitchen and ready to pray over each request she received.

Right after High School, Nancy enlisted the US Air Force and met the love of her life, Dick Thoma, while they were both stationed at McGuire AFB in New Jersey. They built a beautiful family as they moved through the years to 6 different locations. Daughter Cindy recalls that she knew her parents were madly in love with each other.” They had that fairy tale relationship.”

After Dick passed in 1998, Nancy thought she might end her years alone, but her generous heart led her to open her home to her extended family. She became the joyful matriarch to 4 generations of her growing clan, these younger loves of her life living together in the home she had shared with the first love of her life. Her great-granddaughter will tell you, she was the best G.G in the world!

Preceded in death by her husband Richard “Dick” Thoma; son Michael Thoma; parents Elmer and Harriet Everitt; sister Jackie Behm.

My heart, thoughts and prayers go out to all of the Thoma family. I met Nancy through the Offutt AFB Exchange as I was in Human Resources. She worked at the Offutt Exchange Food Court. She was a kind, sweet and caring person to every person that she met. I never forgot her and I never will. God bless all of you.
