Loyd G. Orr TSgt USAF (Ret)

Age 87
Loyd G. Orr, of Bellevue, NE, passed away on August 6, 2024. Loyd was born in Duncombe, Iowa, a son of George and Gladys Orr. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in November of 1955 and retired from the Air Force in December of 1975. He served twice in Vietnam and was a member of the American Legion Post 339. Upon his retiring from the Air Force, he was hired by Raytheon to help maintain the electronic warfare equipment on RC 135 reconnaissance planes at Offutt Air Force Base, which he did until he retired in 2002.
Survived by wife of 49 years Margaret, combined sons and daughters William Orr of Omaha, Thurlow Orr of Warner Robins, GA, Anita Cumbie and husband Chuck of TN, Lynda Orr of Warner Robins, GA, Lonnie McMurtry and wife Kesha, Debbie Bennett and husband Joe of Pelham, AL; grandchildren Michael and Trey Johnson, Liana, Breanne, Alisha, Janae, and Titus McMurtry; three great grandsons Nicholas, Jacob, and Everett; sister Mary Bentley and husband Clair of Webster City, IA; numerous nephew and nieces.
Preceded in death by his parents; brothers Paul and Robert; sisters Rose Marie Orr, Loura Kilborn, Florence Stephenson, and Wanda Cunningham.
Visitation: Friday, August 9, 2024, 10:00-11:00 a.m., followed by a
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m., Bellevue Christian Center, 1400 Harvell Drive, Bellevue, NE 68005.
Military Honors: Offutt Air Force Base Honor Guard
Committal Service: Monday, August 12, 2024, 10:00 a.m., Omaha National Cemetery, 14250 Schram Road, Omaha, NE 68138

Dad,
I know how much you loved me; you made it clear each day. Sometimes in things you might have done, sometimes in words you may have said, definitely in your actions and the example you showed . I’m so grateful God gave me you as my Dad! I love you and know one day I’ll see again in heaven.
