TSgt Ret Lon — So sorry — Blessings and condolences!! I enjoyed serving with you in the old SAC Band @ nearby Offutt AFB NE from my arrival here in Jan 81 until your Retirement in the early 1990’s. Well done, Lon — blessings to Ms Rosie + loved ones!
Lon always had such a sweet and gentle spirit. He was kind to everyone and didn’t have a bad word to say about anyone❤️
He had a gentle laugh and infectious smile. His musical talent was unmatched and passed on to the next generation. I am proud to have known him,
This is shocking and unbelievable. Lon was such a great friend and colleague. We played so many gigs together over the years. Lon was such a great person and wonderful trumpet player. He will be missed. Prayers to his family.
Lon Ewing! Sweet and quiet, except when he wasn’t , and then he was MORE wonderful, and funny , and sarcastic and fun! My favorite story is when he worked in publicity and was talking to someone at SAC PA.. he hung up the phone and said “I can’t believe I just said bye-bye to them!”We laughed and laughed! I’m sure that’s what he said to his kids when he left in the morning which made it that more endearing. He was a kick ass trumpet player, did his gig, loved the AF and loved his family even more. An honorable family man, friend, and veteran. ❤️
So sorry to hear this. Lon, it was an HONOR to serve with you. R.I.P.
Lon was the very first person I met at Offutt. I was just a kid and he was there when I was having a hard time. He and I shared so much over my eight years there. We shared our love of Science Fiction, cards and gaming. He taught me how to tune up my VW and we shared so many hours in his driveway keeping our VWs in top shape. Months may go by between phone calls but it was always like we had just left the band room. Needless to say he was a dear dear friend who I will miss beyond words!!
Lon, as a young airman trumpet player, I learned so much from you. You were always a good friend, teacher, and section leader. As a player, few could match your skill with the trumpet, but you were so humble about.your talent. I’ll be praying for you & your family. Joe Henneberry
Lon was a wonderful Air Force Band musician and the sweetest man. Prayers from the Webers for his family.
I couldn’t have asked for a better brother-in-law or an uncle for my daughter, Jamie.
Most of all, I couldn’t have asked for a better lover and spouse for my sister Roseanne.
I miss you already, Lon.
Linda Lundahl
I’m so sorry to hear of Lon’s passing. I will always fondly remember him and Colonel Johnson strolling amongst dancers at jazz band gigs, playing a duet to Spanish Eyes. Rest in peace Lon. Prayers for his friends and family. – Beth Armstrong, former SAC Band member
Dear Rosie, my deepest sympathies to you and your family. As you know, Lon and I loved playing in OO together. We had so many great laughs during rehearsals and many a musical moment during those concerts. He was an excellent trumpeter, a superb human being and a devout Catholic. He will be sorely missed by so many. I will be in touch. Much love, Wenda
Roseanne, our prayers and thoughts for strenght and comfort for you and your family during this time. God Bless, Teresa and Walt
