Joseph Hrdy

Preceded in death by parents Frantisek (Frank) and Bozena (Bessie) Hrdy and brothers: Charles (Dee); Adolph (Dorothy); George and Henry; sisters Hedvika (Paul) Gard; Helen Burke and Sylvia Hrdy.
Survived by wife Beverly; children and grandchildren: son Russell (Amy) of Dover, NJ and daughters Katie (Noah) Sweet of Natick, MA and great granddaugther Riley, and Faith (Daniel) Sullivan of Morristown, NJ; son Raymond (Teresa) of Wethersfield, CT and sons Andrew of Centreville, VA and Nathan of Orlando, FL; daughter Christine (Mark) Rothermund of Papillion, NE and daughter Hannah and son Aaron (Jody) of Wadena, MN. Also survived by sisters-in-law Norma Hrdy and Genieve Hrdy and brother and sister-in-law John and Darlene Skarda.
Joe and Beverly were married 66 years.
Joe grew up in South Omaha and attended South High School. He joined the Navy in 1951 and served four years on active duty. He also served four years in the reserves. Joe worked construction driving heavy machinery, for Natkin Construction Company and Borchman Construction Company from 1961 to 1989. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers for over 40 years. Joe worked on many of the big construction projects around Omaha – like Crossroads; Bergan Mercy Hospital, UNMC Medical Center, Offutt AFB, Campbell Soups, etc. He worked for the City of Bellevue Street Department from 1989 to 1996. Joe was very handy with his hands, he loved spending time with his family and friends and going to the casino.

Funeral Service: Saturday, December 16, 10:30 a.m., Avery Presbyterian Church, 1910 Avery Road East, Bellevue, 68005.
