Troia, Joseph A., DDS Age 90 Bellevue, NE Passed away Wednesday December 4th, 2014. Joseph was born November 4, 1924 in Omaha, NE to Carmelo and Rosaria Troia. Preceded in death by wife, Mary Ann Follmer Troia; brother, Anthony Troia; sister, Louise Troia Eagle. He graduated from Creighton University Dental School in 1948. He practiced dentistry in both Omaha and Bellevue, NE. He retired from his Bellevue dental practice in 1993. Joseph served both in WW II and the Korean War. He was last stationed at Offutt Air Base. Joseph was united in marriage to Mary Ann Follmer in 1948. He joined St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bellevue, NE in 1952. As a member of St. Mary’s parish, he was involved in the parish council, religious education, and he participated in the perpetual adoration program for 60 years. He was a 4th degree Sir Knight in the Knights of Columbus. His family was chosen as state family of the year in 1988 for the Knights of Columbus and 2nd runner-up internationally. He was a member of the American Legion, Elks Club, and Eagles. Joseph was a member of the Sons of Italy and American Italian Heritage Society. He was also a Bellevue City Councilman from 1965-1967. He has been active as a member of the Creighton University Dental Advisory Board and was a national delegate for the State of Nebraska’s Delta Sigma Delta Dental Fraternity. Joseph is survived by children, Sarita (Wayne) Penka, Mary Jo (Jose Luis) Tejeda, Margaret (Warren) Wazny, Thomas (Debra) Troia, Patricia Troia-Helleso, Katherine (Bill) Troia Morehouse, Carl (Elizabeth) Troia, Cecilia (Dan) Troia-Awsiukiewicz, James A. (Bonita) Troia, John M. Troia, Anna Troia, Samuel D. (Marie) Troia, Joseph II (Kim) Troia; 30 grandchildren; and 23 great grandchildren. VISITATION: Monday, December 8, 2014 from 4-7pm at Bellevue Memorial Chapel with WAKE SERVICE following at 7pm. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Bellevue at 10:30am. Interment: Bellevue Cemetery. Memorials to St. Mary’s Endowment Fund and Columban Fathers.
