Jon Michael “Mike” Hood

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jon Michael Hood, a beloved family man and a dedicated public servant, on February 27, 2025. Born on January 1, 1940, Mike lived a life rich in love, loyalty, and service.

Mike is survived by his loving wife of six decades, Glenda Hood, to whom he was married in 1964. His legacy lives through his son, Jon Hood, and daughter-in-law, Susan Hood. He was a cherished grandfather to Ella Hood, Jennifer Anderson, and Sean Anderson. His son-in-law Keahi Anderson also carries his legacy. He is also survived by his sister Trisha Allen and her husband Jim; brother Jim Hood and his wife Lani: and nieces and nephews.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents Margaret and Leo Hood; sister Margaret Jay; beloved daughter, Karen Anderson.

Mike was a proud graduate of Englewood High School, Colorado, in 1958. His pursuit of education continued at the University of Colorado, where he graduated in 1962.

Following his graduation, Mike began his career in 1962 with the U.S. Navy, a testament to his unwavering sense of duty. In 1970, he transitioned to U.S. Customs, where he dedicated 23 years of his life. After a fulfilling career, he retired in 1993.

Not one to idle away, Mike began a new journey in 1993, serving in Ecuador with Reach Beyond (HCJB). He diligently worked there until his second retirement in 2001.

Mike was a gentle soul, steadfastly loyal and loving. His faith was his compass in life, and he taught those around him the significance of loving Christ. His devotion to God and family were the cornerstones of his existence, and his enduring legacy.

Mike’s life is a testament of strong faith, steadfast dedication, and unconditional love. His spirit lives on in the hearts of his loved ones.

The family will hold a private graveside service with military honors.

    I never met Mr. Hood but I am good friends with his son Jon. I have known Jon for at least 20 years and he is one of the most stand up, good fearing, and servant hearted individuals that I have ever met and I know all that is a testament to his father . I send My thoughts and prayers to the Hood family.
