We are so sorry for your loss, and we send our sincere condolences to all the family.
I’ve never met anyone that loved animals as much as my Uncle John did. Dogs, and cats he’d never met before would get up from wherever they sat, just to go lay at his feet. He would happily give them the perfect amount of affection . I always loved that about him. He was extremely intelligent, and a gentle giant with a heart of gold. and the world won’t be the same without him.
So sorry to hear of Johns’s passing. He was a good guy.
I flew with John so many years ago in Vietnam. He was always professional, exceptional at his job, and a good friend. It was good to reconnect with him on Facebook and at Omaha reunions after so many years. We shared many of the same likes and dislikes. We’ve lost a gentleman and the world is poorer for it. RIP, old friend. I miss you already.
I never had the opportunity to meet John Collins personally but I enjoyed exchanging comments with him on the USAFSS FB pages. R.I.P., John. It has been an honor and pleasure.
So sad to hear of John’s passing. We knew and served with him in Japan and VietNam. It was great to catch up with him at one of our unit reunions in Omaha a few years ago. Our sincere condolences to the family. A great guy!
I have to say I am shedding some tears over this. He was an Air Force buddy who helped make our reunions great events. I would like to donate to the Harbor of Hope Dog Rescue and have it be in his honor. How might I do this?
I was shocked to learn of John’s passing. We shared the common bonds of being Chinese linguists and “Bats” of the 6988th Scty Sq (USAFSS) at Yokota AB, Japan..
I knew John for a brief two year period when our lives intersected 1966-68. I flew numerous missions with John in Vietnam, Korea and along the coast. of China. He was a professional airman and more importantly a wonderful person. I was happy to catch up with him again at recent reunions. He will be remembered and missed by his fellow BATS.
Just heard about John passing. So sorry and our thoughts and prayers are with the family. Grace and peace.

Goodbye, old friend.
I got to know John during the summer of 1969, if I correctly recall the date, before we went on to college and our professional careers. John shared the perspectives of the wise older brother that summer. Patti, I am glad we crossed paths with you and John at our infrequent reunions over the years, Our condolences to you and your family. Doug & Priscilla George
Patti, I’m so sorry for John’s passing. May your years of happy memories together help you and your family during this sad time and in the future.
