James “Tully” M. Tullous
James “Tully” M. Tullous, Jr., 75, of Bellevue, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2024, in Omaha. Born on October 30, 1948, in Omaha, Tully was a vibrant member of the Bellevue community. He is described by his son as being a legend! Tully lived the majority of his life in Bellevue and was well known in the community for being a prankster, sportsman, hunter, and friend.
Tully is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Linda; daughter Teri Tullous (Charlie Keeler); son Randy Tullous; stepson Lance Graham; grandchildren Alex, Grant, Kaylie, and Gage; brother John Tullous; and cousin Helen Malzacher. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Ruby Tullous; brother Mark Tullous; stepdaughter Kelly Dengel; uncle Vernon Teply Sr.; aunt Marie Teply; cousin Vernon Teply Jr.; and his favorite hunting dog Scooter.
Tully attended Bellevue High School and later proudly served in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. After his military service, he worked as a grain inspector for the USDA until he retired after 30+ years. After his retirement, he volunteered his time with the United States Armed Services Honor Guard.
In his free time, Tully enjoyed sports, fishing and hunting. He was a loyal fan of the Huskers football team and enjoyed watching baseball and football games. In his younger days, he actively participated in flag football, softball and golf leagues in Bellevue. Tully was an avid pheasant and waterfowl hunter and built lasting relationships with many residents of Plainview, Nebraska, where he would go for opening day of pheasant hunting.
Per Tully’s wishes, there will not be a formal funeral service. An Honor Guard service and interment of ashes will be held at the Omaha National Cemetery on Friday March 15, 2024 at 10am. The family will host a celebration of life on Saturday, March 16, 2024 from 1pm to 4pm at the Beardmore Event Center of Bellevue (3750 Raynor Parkway, Bellevue, NE 68123).
