James A. “Jim” Homan

James A. “Jim” Homan

October 8, 1937 ~ October 8, 2023

Age 86

Jim was born October 8, 1937, and passed away peacefully on the same day, 86 years later. He lost his father when he was a baby and was raised into a strong, athletic young man by his mother, Charlotte and his uncle, Bob Sterr.

He married Liz in 1957 and together they raised four children – Debb, Jimmy, Chad and Clint and enjoyed time with his many grandchildren.  Throughout the years, he helped take care of many family dogs, maintained a garden, watching and betting on football, going to watch auto racing, and traveling to other countries to see ancient architecture. He also loved country music and dancing with Liz.

He also liked boating on the lake and river. Sundays at the “cabin” turned into great gatherings and parties with friends and family, where everyone was welcome. This came about from his legendary 4th of July parties when he roasted hogs and had live music where people would dance the night away until the fireworks show.

Jim was a bricklayer by trade and grew into a successful business entrepreneur. He built, owned, and managed apartments in Bellevue and owned a small trucking company. After long days of work, he loved spending time with his buddies at the local watering holes where he was known as “Ballzy”.

Jim was heavily involved with his youngest son’s racing venture. During the week, it was normal for Jim to be working on the racecar with the boys. On most weekends you could find him and Liz watching Clint in his blue and orange #27 modified racing around the track.

Preceded in death by his parents Amiel and Charlotte Homan; sisters Ruth A. Homan and Lillian F. Homan; uncle Bob Sterr; granddaughter Jordyn K. Homan.

Jim is survived by his wife of 66 years, Liz; children Debb Homan (Sue Seefus), Jim Homan (Kelly), Chad Homan (Renee), Clint Homan (Kylie); grandchildren Joe Homan, Mary Homan, Katie Homan (Krystal) and Audrey Homan, Cole Seefus, Taylor Barrett, Riley Homan and Cruz Homan; great granddaughter Addy Barrett.

Visitation: Thursday, October 12, 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Bellevue Memorial Funeral Chapel.

Funeral Service: Friday, October 13, 10:00 a.m., Bellevue Memorial Funeral Chapel.

Interment: Bellevue Cemetery
