Jacquelyn Rose Kallman “Jacquie”

Jacquelyn Rose Kallman “Jacquie”

October 18, 1933 ~ June 17, 2023

Age 89

Jacquelyn Rose Kallman, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away at home on June 17, 2023, surrounded by family. The oldest of seven children, she was born in Mason City, Iowa, to Francis and Evelyn Johnson and grew up in Council Bluffs. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School at the age of 16, attended Creighton University, and graduated with a degree in Medical Technology.

Jacquie met and married Mike in 1955, and together they raised 12 children, who were the light of her life. She was wickedly intelligent, a master at solving crossword puzzles, and the perfect phone-a-friend for Scrabble, game shows (think Jeopardy, Password, Wheel of Fortune), or murder mysteries. She was a woman of great strength, generosity, and faith—a true prayer warrior. She was highly involved in the Catholic Church, a member of the Catholic Daughters and the Ladies Guild, Music Director, and Wedding Coordinator, and an organist for almost 70 years. Jacquie impacted so many people through her musical gifts—playing the piano and organ for masses, weddings, funerals, and other events, as well as accompanying singing groups like the Offuttaires and Senior Singers.

Jacquie was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Michael; infant daughter, Sheila; parents, Francis and Evelyn; and siblings Francis (Bud) and James Johnson and Mary Burroughs.

She is survived by her children Michael Kallman, Jr. (Kathleen) of Rolla, MO; Mary Kallman of Kansas City, MO; Kathy Montague (Duane) of Maumelle, AR; Richard Kallman (Laura) of Woodbury, MN; Peg Kallman of Bellevue; Tom Kallman (Tressea) of Avoca, IA; Dr. James Kallman (Talani) of Appleton City, MO; Sue Daniel (Will) of Wahoo; Paul Kallman (Lisa) of Papillion; Matt Kallman (Erin) of Gretna; Jean Belles (Jim) of Memphis, TN; Rita Muth (Bill) of Maple Plain, MN; 38 grandchildren; 45+ great-grandchildren; sisters Barbara Ackerson, Gertrude Lines (Jerry), and Rosemary Meekins; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many cherished family friends.

Visitation: Wednesday, June 21, 4:30 – 6:45 p.m., with Catholic Daughters Rosary at 6:45 p.m., Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m., St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 2302 Crawford Street, Bellevue.

    Mary and Family,
I did not know your mom, but I couldn’t help but smile at the legacy she has left behind as a model of her faith for her family and all those she met on life’s journey. This is truly a celebration of life! May all the wonderful memories, sayings, and mannerisms of Jacquie bring you comfort and joy as you gather to remember and celebrate your mom, sister, aunt, grandma, and great grandma, and may the Holy Spirit surround you all with peace. God Bless! Susan Martin

Peg, our hearts go out to you and all of your family. We continue to keep all of you in our thoughts and prayers. Jackie was such a blessing to St. Mary’s Catholic Church. We have always been most appreciative of her playing the organ for our wedding then for our son Joseph’s funeral. God Bless.
