I couldnt’t be more proud to have him as a father and the foundation to our family. Part of the link to our chain is missing but we will move forward with our heads held high, united, because that is what pops wanted and what his last wishes were. I love you pops, I will always do you proud and keep my siblings in line 🙂 Until we meet again.
I worked with Hunter during my first years at the 10th & Pacific USPS in CFS. I was 20 and working at USPS was definitely a challenge every day. If it wasn’t for his protective nature from all the ghouls in CFS, I would’ve quit. My own father also logged in 20+ yrs for USAF and joined the USPS, so it was very easy to love him as my “other” father. We had a lot of good times in CFS, too. Sometimes after work at his favorite watering hole, we’d see the true colors of this veteran. Charismatic, Funny and best of all LOUD. It’s been a long time since I saw Hunter, but he’ll always be a memorable part of my USPS career. My thoughts and prayers are with the Vaught Family. I’ll visit him at the Omaha National Cemetery.
Dear Alma, Tony, Tommy, Lisa n Jenny…

R.I.P. Mr. Vaught…
I am truly sorry to the entire vaught family. You’re ALL in my prayers
R.I.p. Hunter
During the Nebraska football, basketball games and College World Series, you always knew where to find Hunter. He can be found at Memorial Stadium, Pinnacle Bank Arena or Ameritrade Park cheering his beloved Huskers or watching a good college baseball game analyzing every minute of it. His enthusiasm for Husker football in particular, was contagious. His interest in football led to him becoming perhaps the biggest Husker fan on the planet. I will cherish our times tailgating at Nebraska home games and away games. Not only was he a super fan, but a great person, friend and he love his wife and family dearly. My thoughts and prayers to the family.
Sonny and I bonded over Vaught genealogy. I loved hearing the excitement in his voice when we found new info and/or new family. He would laugh and his voice would boom…..another Vaught to add to our growing list. Life interrupted our friendship but I will always remember Sonny with a smile in my heart. I’m glad we got to meet, spend time together and become friends as well as family. I love you Sonny and send prayers to your family for healing.
So very sorry to hear of Hunter’s passing. He was a great high school classmate and is remembered with fondness. My deepest sympathy to the entire family.
I was a very young girl, all of three years old when I first met Hunter, when he served in the Air Force with my dad , when they were both stationed in Paris. I’d seen many photos of him , but I couldn’t remember a lot about Hunter. This past summer, after nearly 56 years, I had the pleasure of visiting with Hunter again when he traveled to Idaho to visit my dad. I am so very glad I had the opportunity to visit with him. Such a kind and gentle man. Although I didn’t know him as well as some, I will miss him terribly. My thoughts and prayers for the entire Vaught family.
I miss you Sonny and all our family research together. I was going through a bad change in my life when you left us. Im sorry I missed your last call. Prayers for your Alma and family. Love you always!!
