Age: 73 yrs.
Gerald “Jerry” Robert Wendling -CMSG retired-aged 73- of Bellevue, Nebraska, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his devoted family on July 17, 2017.
Jerry was born in LaCrosse, Wisconsin to his now deceased parents, Robert J. and Pearl (Anderson) Wendling. He was united in marriage to his wife of 50 years, Pamela K. (Pam) Iverson on June3, 1967 and was later sealted for Time and all Eternity in the St. George, Utah Temple of the Church of Jesus Christe of Latter Day Saints on August 1, 1969.
Surviving family members include his wife, Pam, three beautiful children and 7 grandchildren Lisa (Harvey) Miller and children Katie, Travis and Abby of LaCrosse, WI; Tara (Sean) Williams and children Caleb, and Emma of Bellevue, NE; Keith (Shannon) Wendling and children Skyler and Kaylee of Bellevue, NE.
He has one sister, Patricia (Dale) Hansen of LaCrosse, WI; mother-in-law Mary M. Iveson; sister-in-law Angela (Duane) Luethe; brother-in-law Rodney (Chere’) Iverson; many nieces and nephews.
Jerry spent 22 years serving his country in the United States Air Force where he disintguished himself by earning the Bronze star, a Meritorious Service Medal. He retired in 1989 as a Chief Master Sargeant.
He embarked on a second career involving teaching Novell Networking for Huntel Communications, later transitioning to Iowa Western Community College as an instructor in Computer Information Technology. He retired from IWCC in 2015, after which he taught several classes as an online adunct instructor. He and Pam were able to do lots of traveling, spending time with family a dn working on geneology.
He will be dearly missed, but he leaves behind a great legacy of love and service to God, his beloved family, and his country.
VISITATION: Thursday July 20, 2017, 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Bellevue Memorial Funeral Chapel.
FUNERAL SERVICE: Friday July 21, 2017 , 11:00 a.m. at Church of Latter Day Saints Bellevue, 2210 Harlan Dr, Bellevue, NE 68005
INTERMENT: Monday July 24, 2017, 1:00 p.m. at Omaha National Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
Military Honors by Offutt Air Force Base Honor Guard.

We are saddened by Jerry’s passing. He was a special cousin and we will miss him. Our thoughts and prayers are with you now and in the days ahead. Hugs and all our LOVE, Gary & Barb
Jerry was such a beautiful example of Love to us both. We will forever cherish his friendship in our hearts and will look forward to being reunited again one day. Pam, we love you so much and will keep you and your precious family in our prayers. Love forever and always.
I am sorry for your loss. What an impressive life he led. I know that Heavenly Father must have greeted him in Heaven, put his around him and said, “Well done, myservant, well done”!
I was sad to hear the news that Jerry had passed away. He was a wonderful and good person and I am grateful to have known him. I’m glad that he got to stay in the world a few years after his diagnosis to enjoy you guys awhile longer. Your family are some of my favorite people and you will be in my heart, thoughts, and prayers as you go through this time. Sending love and prayers your way. I love you guys!
