Edward L. Krajicek Jr.

Krajicek Jr., Edward

August 6, 1950 – December 6, 2017

Edward L. (Eddie) Krajicek Jr., 67, a native of South Omaha and longtime tavern operator in Sarpy County, died Wednesday at a nursing home in Plattsmouth.

The oldest of nine children, Eddie attended Sts. Peter & Paul and was a 1968 graduate of Omaha South High. He lived for more than 40 years on Chris Lake in Sarpy County and was co-owner (with his sister Carol) of The Lodge Bar & Grill in LaPlatte, a business founded by his namesake father in the 1960s.

Eddie was a trophy-winning drag-racer, enthusiastic landscape painter and accomplished furniture-builder in his younger days. He was an avid gardener, boatsman, golfer and fisherman. A lifelong bachelor, he lived life on his own terms, pursuing these hobbies even after losing his lower legs.

His health declined over the past several months, and he died peacefully in the loving company of his siblings.

Eddie was predeceased by his mother and father, Helen M. (Strack) and Edward L. Krajicek Sr., and a brother, Richard. His survivors include sisters Colleen Krajicek of Elkhorn; Carol Strazdas (Ed Porter) of Bellevue; Julie Krajicek (George Rutter) of Richmond, Va.; Marie Bartlett (Edd) of Bellevue, and Helen Harris (Alan Marshall) of Omaha; brothers David J. Krajicek of New York and William Krajicek (Jennifer) of  Papillion; stepmother Beverly Krajicek of Papillion; 14 nieces and nephews, and many cousins.

Eddie’s family will host a Celebration of his Life at The Lodge in LaPlatte from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 10. The family suggests memorials to Plattsmouth Care and Rehabilitation Center, 602 S. 18th St., Plattsmouth, NE 68048.

So sorry for you loss, I enjoyed many days on the water with Eddie over the last 28 years. We had many good times at the lodge for our meeting every month. It will not be the same without him. Love and prayers to the Krajicek family.

I’VE KNOWN EDDIE FOR SOME TIME AND HE WAS A VERY GOOD FRIEND OF MY FAMILY. LIVING IN SOUTH DAKOTA I DIDN’T SEE HIM MUCH, BUT WHEN I WOULD COME BACK TO VISIT MY FAMILY WE WOULD USUALLY STOP AT THE LODGE TO VISIT EDDIE. I ALWAYS ENJOYED TALKING WITH HIM AND HE ALWAYS AMAZED ME WITH THE COOKING HE COULD DO IN THE KITCHEN IN HIS WHEEL CHAIR. REST IN PEACE EDDIE.

I was so very sad to hear of Eddie’s passing. To me he was a loving friend and ally during my 15 years of involvement with your family. He inherited his father’s kind and compassionate heart which he shared with me each time we were together. I have always imagined a surprise appearance at the Lodge just to say hello and, of course, wash some dishes.
