Age 92 yrs.
Dorothy graduated from LA General Hospital School of Nursing and was a lifelong member of their alumni association. She graduated from the College of St. Francis and Indiana University where she was also a lifelong member of the Indiana University Alumni Association. An accomplished violinist, she was Concertmaster with the Gary, Indiana Symphony Orchestra. She was also a lifelong member of Hadassah. Dorothy was generous and supported many causes including Fontenelle Forest, Durham Museum, and Henry Doorly Zoo among others.
Preceded in death by husband John Balash
Survived by sons Robert Balash & Richard Balash (Marta); grandchildren David Balash (Caroline Fitzpatrick), Michael Balash (Katie); great-grandchildren Henry & James Balash; sister Janice “Bunny” Standel (Jack).
GRAVESIDE SERVICE will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Tucson, AZ
Memorials: American Cancer Society & Fontenelle Forest.
