Dorothy Gladys Ross Steele

Steele, Dorothy Gladys Ross 1922 – 2015 Dorothy Steele, 93, passed away April 15, 2015 at a hospital in Meridian, Idaho surrounded by her family. Dorothy was born in Sharon, Mississippi on April 7, 1922. She was the youngest of 8 children, born to Samuel and May Ross. Dorothy and her siblings were raised on a farm in Sharon, Mississippi, and she often talked about what a great childhood she had. In 1942, Dorothy met the love of her life, Ken Steele. They married in Bossier City, Louisiana on November 28, 1942. Ken’s career in the Air Force set up a life full of adventure, as they were stationed at many different bases across United States. They had 2 daughters, Jean Earl and Shirley Muckey. They moved to Bellevue, Nebraska in 1958, and made that their permanent home. After retiring from the Civil Service in 1972, Dorothy focused her time on the crafts she loved. She enjoyed crocheting, beadwork, making Christmas ornaments, and ceramics. In 2010, Dorothy moved to Meridian, Idaho to live with her daughter, Jean and son in-law, John. Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Jean (John) Earl; grandson Ken (Mary) Muckey; grandson, Bob Muckey; granddaughter, Debbie (Mark) Isaacson; grandson, Jimmy (Jennifer) Muckey and granddaughter, Renee (Dan) Cole. She is also survived by numerous great grandchildren that loved and adored her. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Ken Steele; daughter, Shirley Muckey; her parents, Samuel and May Ross and her 7 siblings. VISITATION: 10am, one hour prior to service on Friday, April 24, Bellevue Memorial Chapel. FUNERAL SERVICE: 11am Friday, April 24, Bellevue Memorial Chapel. Interment: Bellevue Cemetery.
