Age 86

Donald Schlafman was born on April 4, 1934 near Washburn, ND to John and Teresa. He grew up on a farm with his parents and three sisters. He joined the Air Force in 1952 and worked as an aircraft mechanic. He met Marilyn on a trip back to North Dakota and they were married in 1958. They were station in several places during his twenty-year Air Force service and ended up calling Bellevue, NE home. He had a second career at Exide where he used his mechanical skills to fix industrial batteries throughout the Midwest.

Don and Marilyn had two children and two grandchildren. Don enjoyed camping and fishing with his family. He enjoy walking his dogs. He could often be found working in the garden and sharing his harvest with the neighborhood.

Preceded in death by parents John & Theresa Schlafman; sister Alyce Hoyer.

Survived by wife of 62 years Marilyn; son Don Schlafman, Jr.; daughter Melinda Cebull (Peter); grandchildren Rachel & Nicholas Cebull; sisters Blanche Gohering & Jeanne Eman.

Visitation following CDC guidelines: Sunday, November 8th, 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Bellevue Memorial Chapel

Memorial Service Monday, November 9th, 10:00 a.m., Bellevue Memorial Chapel

    You have my deepest sympathy at this difficult time. Find comfort in the wonderful, simple memories you have of your father, husband, grandfather and brother. Share these memories with one another to celebrate Don’s life.
