Donald Frederick Trentman LtCol USAF (Ret)

Don Trentman was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. He graduated from MacKenzie High School, the largest high school in Michigan. Don was a great featherweight boxer in the Detroit Catholic Boxing League. He only lost one fight but beat that opponent 2 weeks later. He graduated from Assumption College of the University of Western Ontario. Don was commissioned in the Air Force in 1952. He met and married Eileen Riordan while back in Detroit on vacation from Japan in February 1958. He served 25 years in the Air Force with over 8,100 hours in B-29s, B-66s and B-52s. He also flew 121 bombing missions over Vietnam. He was stationed at Hill AFB, UT; Yokota AB, Japan; Roswell AFB, NM; Westover AFB, MA; McCoy AFB, FL, Loring AFB, ME and Offutt AFB, NE. Don retired as a Lt Col in the Air Force at Headquarters Strategic Air Command in 1977 and settled in Bellevue. He then worked 19 years at Mutual of Omaha as a programmer/analyst.
Don loved his family. He was also a passionate fan of the Detroit Tigers, Lions, Red Wings and Michigan/Nebraska football.
Don was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Kathleen Trentman, brother Rick Trentman and wife, Eileen Trentman. He is survived by son Rick Trentman (wife Debbie) of Monument, CO, son Brian Trentman (wife Teddi) of Tom Bean, TX, daughter Maureen Hoppe (husband Scott) of Papillion, NE, grandchildren Patrick Trentman (wife Samantha), Jake Trentman, Sean Trentman, Mitch Trentman, Ronni Lynn Trentman, Trent Hoppe, Grey Trentman, Brian Trentman, Megan Hoppe, and Cole Hoppe.
Memorial Mass: Saturday, December 16, 10:30 a.m., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 2302 Crawford Street, Bellevue.
