Age 71

Preceded in death by parents Alpha & Rowena Cheairs; seven siblings.

Survived by wife of 38 years Barbara; children: Donya Smith, John Cheairs, Kenneth Cheairs (Laura),

Theresa Cotty (Jorge), Lyle Cheairs (Marina), Kevin Cheairs, Kathryn Cheairs; 12 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; siblings: Sue Hammons (John), Karolyn Prado, Linda Schwemmers (Leroy), Jeff Cheairs, Joy Cheairs, Kathy Cheairs; many other loving relatives & friends.

Visitation Monday, February 19 from 5-7 pm with Wake Service at 7 pm at Bellevue Memorial Chapel.

Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday, February 20 at 11am at St. Matthew the Evangelist Catholic Church, Bellevue

Interment  Omaha National Cemetery

Military Honors Offutt Air Force Base Honor Guard

    My deepest condolences to you and your family. I never had the pleasure of knowing this man but from the many facebook posts shared by family I can see that he was one amazing Dad and Grandfather. Hugs thoughts and prayers to you all.

    So sad . to hear about Don’s passing. He always made my day with a good joke or witty resopnses. As he put it..we were loafers for the government. My deepest sympathy and prayers for the family.

    Don & I were great friends. He last words to me was I love u. Don was an exceptional man & young guy. I will miss him. I’m so sorry for ur lost.

    I am so sorry to hear of Don’s passing; he was a true friend and a great classmate of ours. We stayed in contact for many years and he always made me smile. Our lives will not be the same with him gone.
