David Catherall
October 8, 1974 – April 5, 2021
Age 46
David was a graduate of Northwest Missouri State, where he was a proud Sig Ep. He earned a master’s degree from Creighton, taught music for many years at Bellevue West, choreographed many performances throughout the Metro area and worked with many local show choirs.
Preceded in death by grandparents Andy Catherall, Ed & Carolyn McKeegan, Robert Sturm, and Marium Sturm; great-aunt Phyllis “Birdie” Catherall.
Survived by parents Michael (Col USAF Ret) and Carol Catherall; sister Christa Williams (Bryan); uncle Tom Sturm (Carolyn); cousins Tracy Sturm (Kem) and Stacy Sturm (Amy), and their children Luke & Hayden.
Reception of Friends following CDC guidelines: Friday, April 16, 5-7 p.m. at Bellevue Memorial Chapel.
Memorial Service following CDC guidelines: Saturday, April 17, 1 p.m. at St. James United Methodist Church, West Campus, 4343 Capehart Road, Bellevue.

Carol,Mike,and Christa—I know what a difficult time this is for you. My prayer is for you to have comfort in your lifelong memories of all those special times with David and the joy and pride David brought to your lives. May David’s soul Rest In Peace.God bless you !!
What a terrible time for you Carol and your family! Losing David at such a young age is almost unbearable ! Will so be thinking of you and your families! I send my love, hope and hugs dear classmate!

Such wonderful memories the cast crew and I had at Bellevue West with this talented young man. May he dance pain free now and forever.
We are so sorry to hear of your loss. We knew David from teaching us adults how to ballroom dance etc. we had so much fun He was a great teacher , we will always have fond memories of him.

I do not know you Catherall Family but I knew David for years. I went to Creighton University undergrad when he was doing his master’s degree. My heart is broken with this news. I am so sorry for your loss. He was an amazing person, a talented singer and dancer and mostly a great friend. He will be missed. My heart is with your hearts.

Mr. Catherall…I was just sitting here listening to Queen and how it would be an AWESOME stage production for West Side Singers. I thought of you instantly and went to send you a message. In that moment, I learned that you are gone and Queen soothes my broken heart with visions of you choreographing the most epic and brilliant movement to “No-one But You” somewhere above my head. You are one of the most influential people I have ever met in my life. I appreciate everything you ever taught me and how you pushed me to always be a better version of myself…with every rehearsal, every note sang, every dance executed…I find strength in challenge every day because you inspired me not to be afraid of having a vision and seeing it through…even if no one else can see it yet. You are loved and you and missed and you will always be remembered. Thank you.
My heart just fell four stories when I saw this. I don’t know how I missed it. I have known Dave since he was a student at West then through his time as a teacher to my kids there. He was a wonderfully talented man; his skill’s in dance, theatre, vocal and instrumental music will be long felt in our community through his students and those of us who had the good fortune to be influenced by him. I only wish I had seen this sooner so I could have offered my condolences to his family in person. Rest peacefully in the arms of God Dave I know that My life was made better for the times you were in it.
