Dan was the kindest, most loving and giving man I know. He was always there to lend a hand or repair something for the family. He was truly a Servant for God. I know he is the arms of Jesus now, but we are utterly heartbroken and he has left us with a void that is irreplaceable. I was so blessed to call him my nephew. You are so loved and will be greatly missed.💔💔😢😢🙏🙏

I’m just heartbroken to lose such an outstanding person. Dan was an absolute delight to be around, and I can’t ever remember a time when he didn’t have a smile on his face. He and his wife Heather were such great supporters of Bellevue West while Lindsay and Cale attended there. Dan was always willing to jump in to do whatever he could with the booster club,, After Prom, etc. He was always so grounded, had great common sense, was full of life, and truly lived a Christian life. He will definitely be missed.

It was a very tough morning when I received the news that Dan passed away the previous night. I was Dan’s position coach at Nebraska and we had a special relationship far beyond that of a coach and a player. He was such a special person to everyone he made contact with. We had a very unique and special relationship since his days as a player. Our ability to communicate verbally and non verbally is something I will always cherish. I remember meeting his girlfriend and now wife Heather when they were still in college. I knew right away they were meant for each other. We shared the same birthday and in many ways the same temperament. We could go for long periods of time not making contact but when we did, the connection was there. My heart goes out to his family and friends because I know we shared a great man’s company for the period of time we had with him. Rest easy Chief!!

I had the privilege of working with Dan at First National for several years. In fact I was his boss. What a first class guy who worked hard, was kind and respectful to all those around him, and he always did his job the right way. Not the easy way. My sincere condolences to Heather and his kids. He had a life well-lived and will be sorely missed by so many. Rest well, my friend.

I am so sorry to hear of Dan’s passing. He was so kind and such a great friend, always willing to help me out and be a substitute dad when John was TDY. We enjoyed our Nebraska/Baylor games with him and loved how he would send us peanut brittle at Christmas. Heather, you and your family are in our prayers. I wish we could be there tomorrow but know we will be thinking of you and sending our love.

  • Rev. Dr. John and Kim Riley Posted October 15, 2021 11:36 am

Kim and I were deeply saddened to hear of Dan’s sudden passing. We send our love, prayers and condolences to Heather, Lindsay, and Cale, and Dick and Mary Jo. You are always in our hearts and never more so than now. Dan was a faithful servant of Our Lord Jesus Christ and a loving husband and father and friend to so many. He will be missed by all, but just as Dan lives now with Our Savior in eternity he will live forever in our hearts. Our tears reach out to all of you across the miles from Delaware. The Rev. Dr. John and Kim Riley
