Chuck, I’m truly sorry to hear of your passing. You were simply an awesome ‘Scouter’ – an exemplary leader in the Wagon Wheel District of the Mid-America Council of the Boy Scouts of America. You (along with your bride Mary) were the standard we in Scouting all strived to emulate. In that capacity, you were not only a beloved mentor, but a true friend…and I will never forget you. May God bless you for that.
Mary, I’m saying some extra prayers for you and your family. May God bless and comfort all of you!
    In Scouting,

Prior to scouting, in the late 1970’s, the Nelsons were meaningful in the neighborhood. We arrived, typical late ‘70s Air Force family. By the early 80’s, Charles “Chuck” Nelson was known. The ‘older’ father of the younger son. That mattered when your son is 25-30 years younger growing up!

Charles “Chuck” Nelson was one of the pillars of my life. Solid, committed, supportive if quietly demanding. More important, he loved me. He loved me like a son.

    I’ll never forget him!

Thank you for your kind words. He was like a father to me too. Being his daughter in law was such an honor.
