Carrie S. Holo

November  16, 1955 – October 10, 2022

Age 66

Carrie Stave Holo dedicated her life to the service of others.

As an active member of her church’s community, she provided care and comfort to people who had experienced trauma and adversity in their lives and taught Sunday school. She also helped resettle recently arrived Sudanese refugees by advising them on finding employment, driving them to job interviews, teaching them how to drive, and in one case to play the piano. Later in life she cared for home-bound seniors and people with disabilities.

Carrie sought adventure as a young woman, striking out from her childhood home in Minnesota to see the world. She went to college in the Pacific northwest, attending Willamette University in Oregon where she played basketball and Puget Sound University where she ultimately earned a degree in psychology. She backpacked through Europe and Latin America and would return to Minnesota where she would briefly work at the Kawasaki Motorcycle Plant in order to purchase her own motorcycle. Carrie would later move to Colorado with her then husband to ski and start a family.

Carrie was born to Nolan “Ace” Asleson and Eunice “Susie” Asleson, née Boker, 16 November 1955 in Moorehead, MN. She spent most of her childhood in Wayzeta, MN where she graduated from Minnetonka high school in 1973. She passed away on 10 October.

She is survived by her daughter Kelsey Pickar (Jon); son, Erik (Melissa) Holo of Arlington, VA sister, Kirsten Asleson; granddaughters, Ella and Charlie Holo; and former husband, Mike Holo of Bellevue. Preceded in death by parents Nolan “Ace” & Eunice  “Susie” Asleson.
