It was a pleasure to have known bill. He was a good friend and a wonderful part of my recovery.
I always referred to to war of our youth. You left earth too soon . condolences.to your family.
I met Bill through Dick M. 35 years ago when first sober. Bill was a light in my life. I turned to him for support all through my early sobriety. Bill always said, Ralph, you can carry the message but you can’t carry the alcoholic. When I worried about speaking engagements he used to say just tell the truth, nobody will remember what you said the next day. He often told a story about how he came home drunk and while passed out Carole wrapped him in the blanket he was laying on so he couldn’t move and then beat him half to death with a kitchen broom. I remember running to Bill with so much crap that Dick M. finally had to remind me who my sponsor really was. Bill always said Ralph, 99% of your fears will never come to fruition. They just exist in your head to make you behave. I guess there is a big roundup where Bill has gone, Eventually we will all find out. Death is a patient adversary. “Requiescat in Pace”
