Barbara Mae Smith

October 9, 1930 – January 6, 2021

Age 90

Barbara was born to parents Joseph and Elsie (Koenig) Polzin in Blair, NE. A graduate of Omaha South High School. Barbara was a waitress and head chef at Caniglia’s for 25 years, a Platteview School bus driver for 25 years, and a member of First Baptist Church, Bellevue for 50 years. Barbara was a faithful servant to the Lord and witnessed to many. There was nothing she wouldn’t do to help a complete stranger. She lived an amazing life and was loved by everyone!

Barbara loved to spend time with family, friends and church family!  She was very active in her church and led many to Jesus.  She was blessed to take a trip with her beloved husband to Israel before he passed away with her church and Pastor.  She loved to take cruises and tropical trips with her family every year until she turned 87.  She loved to collect angels, camp, garden and cook!  She had 3 cats that she adored and were her babies!  Lastly, her favorite color was blue!

Preceded in death by husband of 38 years David L. Smith; sons Ricky Joeheim and Del Stokes; granddaughter Jessica Smith.

Survived by children Dianna Blakely (Steve) & Ashley, Nancy Stokes, Nancy Erickson, David Smith, and Jim Smith; sisters Elaine Jerman, Donna Burke, and Janet Polzin; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation following CDC guidelines: Friday, January 15, 4-7 p.m., First Baptist Church-Bellevue, 112 East 23rd Avenue, Bellevue.

Celebration of Life Service following CDC guidelines: Saturday, January 16, 10:30 a.m., First Baptist Church, Bellevue.

Interment: Westlawn-Hillcrest Cemetery

In lieu of flowers, memorials suggested to First Baptist Church, Bellevue.
