Andre D. “Dre” Mungin
September 23, 1974 – April 4, 2020
Age 45
Andre D. Mungin was born on September 23, 1974, in Beaufort, South Carolina, to Sarah and Melvin. He was their first born, and then came Kevin, and Christian. Due to Melvin’s military career, the family lived on many bases here and in other countries, and then in 1978 the family settled down in Papillion. He was a graduate of Papillion-La Vista High School where he excelled in academics and football, then earned a football scholarship to the University of Nebraska-Omaha. It was during this time, he met Kim, and they became inseparable. They were married on October 25, 2003. They were blessed on April 21, 2006, with their adored daughter, Macie Janae. In 2008, Dre’s career path led him to PayPal where his skill set matched his career and he thrived. He valued all of the opportunities PayPal provided, and considered his colleagues as family.
As a husband and father, he was a genuine family man. He provided unconditional support in all Kim and Macie pursued. He and Kim were more than a married couple, they were best friends. When it came to his beloved Macie, even when he was extremely ill, she was his greatest motivation to do what he needed to do to keep fighting, to endure the process, to stay with her and us as long as he could. In the last days, it was her voice that he responded to most. The love they have for one another truly lit up the room.
Let us never forget, Dre was loving, kindhearted, funny, strong-willed, a father figure to nieces and nephews, and loved volleyball, gardening, his friends, the Philadelphia Eagles, and his entire family. He set the bar high for us all to live life to the fullest and to endure what comes our way. He will be greatly missed and always much loved.
Andre was preceded in death by his father Melvin Mungin and mother-in-law Sue Peters.
He is survived by his wife, Kim; daughter Macie; mother Sarah Mungin; father-in-law Glenn Clasen; brothers Kevin Mungin (Kelsey) and Christian Mungin (Erica Hanna); sisters-in-law Deb Clasen, Pam Johnson (Tom), and Jill Elliott (John); and many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

I met Andre at 24 Hour Fitness, and we hit it off. It was funny to me that I knew him for 3 months before realizing he was my old teammate’s older brother. He was one of the nicest men I have ever met. He and his brothers always made me smile when I was around them. I am in utter shock that he is gone. I will miss you Dre.
To the Mungin family, I’m sorry for your loss. Although, I didn’t know Andre I do remember Mrs. Mungin. Prayers to you and your family.

I’m a friend of Kimmie’s from Valentine and had never met her beloved husband or their beautiful daughter but we’re sending love and hugs to all of you. So very sorry for your families’ loss and the pain Dre endured before hand.
Enjoyed our time’ playing football at UNO together. Only good memories about you bro….especially when we “pledged” together lol. Rest easy and may God bring peace to your family!
I met Dre when I was 15 years old and have been close friends ever since. He was always there for me. I spent alot of time with him at his house helping him with whatever he needed and my son would help him with yard work. I didn’t help them with the yard work; I would just sit and talk while they did it. But he will be so missed. Love you brother…..
Deepest condolences to Andrea’s family and friends. Delighted to be able to join you today from Ireland at his beautiful service. You are in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
Had the pleasure of working with Andre for several years. Our conversations over food and diet- his smiling face and positive energy. Sending my love to all those who had the fortune to meet Andre. Sending extra special love and hugs to his wife and daughter. He would speak of you both with such love.
Big Dre and I shared the same birthday. I will always remember the last time I saw him at Walmart last year; we spoke about my son being in the military. He laughed and he smiled then we said good bye. 🙏🏽❤️🙏🏽❤️
My heart and sincere prayers go out to his wife, daughter, and the entire family. My heart was broken too when I got the news. While I had only met Dre as a colleague at PayPal, we talked like we’d known one another forever. We discussed life and sports, even joking we should have our own sports talk show. At work, he was diligent and professional, you could always count on Dre! He will be missed dearly!
