Alfred John Fransen, CMSgt USAF (Ret)

Age 87

Alfred was born in St. Clair Shores, Michigan on March 1, 1931.  He passed away on January 16, 2019 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He entered the U. S. Air Force on January 5, 1951. He  was stationed all over the United States and abroad including a base in U-Tapao, Thailand, during the Vietnam War.  Alfred obtained the rank of CMSgt and retired with Honors in 1974.  He continued his service to his country as a civil servant retiring in 1995.  He was chaplain of VFW Post 10785.  Alfred was an active member of First Baptist Church in Bellevue for more than 40 years where he taught Sunday School, served as a deacon, and assumed many other leadership roles.

Preceded in death by mother Mary Powie; and step-father Peter J. Fransen.

Alfred is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 66 ½ years, Martha; 3 children Michael J. Fransen (Valerie), Denise Fransen Weight (Tony), & Nancy Fransen DuPree (Ed); 7 grandchildren Leyla Caralivanos (James), Lydia Leasher (Dan), Jacob Thomas (Brooke), Dallis Thomas Murray (Kevin), Edwin DuPree, Jr. (Kristen), Morgan DuPree Arnold (Earl) & Ashley DuPree; 12 great-grandchildren; brother Frank Fransen (Jerry).

Visitation 5:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 22nd at First Baptist Church, 112 East 23rd Avenue, Bellevue

Funeral Service 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 23rd at First Baptist Church

Interment  Omaha National Cemetery at 1:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials suggested to the Youth Fund at First Baptist Church.

    From the bottom of our hearts our prayers to the entire family and many thanks to God for letting Al be a part of our lives. We will meet again Al, To a great friend and super example to all. RIP Chief.

    What a blessing you were to all those that came in contact with you Grandpa! Your strength and faith were an inspiration to so many. You definitely made an impact on Dan and your encouragement with his AF career ran deep with him. We love you so very much! Love-Dan, Lydia, Noah, and Lilly

    We are so thankful for Al being a part of our lives. He helped lead us to Christ. We are so blessed to have such a Godly man mentor us. Because of Al we as a family have been able to minister and share Christ with many others. Thank you so much Lord for bring Al Fransen into our lives!!!
