Age  80 years

Alden was born in Medford, Massachusetts to Harold and Nellie Schmitz.  The family moved to Corinna, Maine in 1945, and Alden went to school where he graduated from Corinna Union Academy in 1955.  He met his sweatheart, Corinne Weed, and married her in 1956.  They eventually had 3 children, Barry, Dana, and Kelly.  He was a 22 year veteran of the Air Force during the Vietnam War, and he took part in Operation Dominic on Christmas Island.  He and Corinne retired in 1977 in Bellevue where all of their children graduated.

Preceded in death by his parents, brothers Guy & Stanley; sister Gracia; and son Barry.

Survived by wife of 62 years Corinne; son Dana Perry Schmitz (Theresa); daughter Kelly Corinne Karnes; sister Jean Ketch (Edward); grandchildren: Mitchell, Trevor, Sarah, Laura & Taylor;  great-grandchildren: Mitchell, Leigha, Tyler, Chance, Elijah, Silas & Korah; and his furry friend Baxter.

Visitation  6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5th at Bellevue Memorial Chapel.

Memorial Service  10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 6th at Thanksgiving Lutheran Church, 3702 370 Plaza Highway, Bellevue.

Military Honors Offutt Air Force Base Honor Guard
