John F. Hampton Col USAF (Ret)

March 15, 1932 ~ February 16, 2024

Age 91

Enlisting as a young man, John rose from the ranks of gunner on the B-29 to host Wing Commander of McConnell AFB in just 30 years.  He loved spending time with family and anything to do with flying and airplanes.

Preceded in death by his parents John and Jennie Hampton; three sisters Ann Palmer, Jane Van Ittersum, Carolyn Collins.

Survived by his wife of 70 years Barbara; daughter Tammy Loberg (Jim); son John Hampton (Michelle); five granddaughters: Heather Luchiari (Paulo), Kelley Jassim (Sayfe), Lauren Farmer (Kory), Caitlyn Hampton (Srey Sankar), Shannon Gohr (Karyn).; seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation: Friday, August 23, 10:30 ~ 11:30 a.m., followed by a

Celebration of Life at 11:30 a.m., both at St. James United Methodist Church, Franklin Campus, 1501 Franklin Street, Bellevue, 68005.

Committal Service: Friday, August 23, 2:30 p.m., Omaha National Cemetery

Military Honors: Offutt Air Force Base Honor Guard
