Mable Elizabeth (McCoy) Sexton

Mable Elizabeth (McCoy) Sexton

Our Gift:  January 20, 1935 ~ God’s Gift:  May 5, 2024

Age 89

Mable Elizabeth Sexton was affectionately known as Mom, Grandma, Grandma Mable, and her trademark signature on her cards “Grandmom”.  To have known her is to appreciate all that she embodied-faith, kindness, unconditional love, support, grace, and wisdom.  Born on January 20, 1935 in Sumter, SC to James & Florence (Miller) McCoy, Mable had an extraordinary life full of love, laughter, and adventure.

Supported by her loving and devoted husband of 43 years, Clinton Sexton, Mable was able to travel the world.  She has lived and visited such places as Germany, Hawaii, Bahamas, Cozumel, Aruba, Panama Canal, Virgin Islands, Jamaica, Caribbean Islands, and recently visited Pennsylvania, DC, and Florida.  Clint and Mable raised 5 beautiful children:  Pierre, Sandra, James, Donald (Donnie), and Erica Manns in Bellevue, NE.  Mable was heavily involved with her children, grandchildren, church, friends, and community.  As one of the founding members of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, she loved the Lord and received all of God’s blessings.

After living in Bellevue for many years, Mable relocated with her husband Clint to Sierra Vista, AZ.  Her friendliness and kindness attracted a new group of friends.  Mable made friends wherever she went with her friendly smile and ‘grandma’ to all attitude.

She found support with her ‘Birthday Sisters’: Sallie Allen, Avery Holmes , Joceslyn Boyd, and Eleanor Hicks. This group of women celebrated special milestones together – birthdays, memorials, and special occasions. The ‘birthday sisters’ held a special place in Mable’s heart.

Mable was preceded in death by her parents James & Florence (Miller) McCoy; children Sandra and Donald “Donnie” Manns, daughters-in-law Linda Manns and Jeanie Gill; granddaughter Miranda Manns; great grandchildren Mary & Esther Manns; brothers James and Charlie McCoy; step-sisters Louise Hickson and Lillie M. McFadden.

She leaves behind her loving husband, Clint Sexton; brother George Draft, children Pierre, James (Beatrice), and Erica Manns (Joseph I); grandchildren Jarvis, Ashlie, and Desiree Manns; many great grandchildren; niece Rose Ulmer; and several close family bonds.

Mable’s legacy and spirit will live on through the generations to come.

My Sister Mable has gone to heaven to see all of the great family and friends awaiting for her with big open arms of love8, songs and hugs! (there might be a strawberry “wine cooler” hidden down by the creek!) 🙂 We spoke at least twice a week (storms or sunshine) when I was on the mainland or Hawaii…and had the funniest times talking story and giving Clint a hard-time; my phone rang the other day… I know it was her teasing me to say it’s alright! I give all praises to God an6d can’t wait until we meet again Sister! Aloha Nui Loa & Ah Hui HO! Your Brother George

Mabel, I for one of your greatest and loving fans will never forget you. You were kind and always had a loving smile on that beautiful face and full of the Holy Spirit. I will never forget the 11 days that Lauren, Tracy and I spent with you and Clint in touring Hawaii. You guys were great host to the 3 of us, and the loving kindness is above reproach. To be in Hawaii with you two will always live in my memory. I can’t be at your service as I am in North Carolina but I will be watching. RIP Mabel, you deserve it.

It was a struggle when you moved to AZ knowing you weren’t just right up the street anymore. You were my grandma when I was growing up, and my kids grandma as well. We are fortunate and blessed to have you in our lives. I’m grateful all of my children were blessed to be able to meet you. You will be forever missed
