William Bernard “Bill” Watson, CMSGT USAF (Ret.)

Watson, William Bernard “Bill”, CMSGT USAF (Ret) May 3, 1935 – Oct 29, 2009 Bellevue, NE. William Bernard “Bill” Watson, Chief Master Sergeant, U.S. Air Force (Retired) passed away after a long illness. Bill was born in Noble, MO, to William Clayton and Dortha (Miller) Watson. He graduated from Mansfield High School, Mansfield, MO, in 1952. In 1955, Bill enlisted in the United States Air Force. He was assigned to various Air Force bases in the United States and overseas as a personnel technician and a manpower management specialist. In 1966, Bill married Martha Egelston of Alma, NE, and they had two children, Lisa and Brian. He graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 1977 with a bachelor’s degree in general studies. Bill retired from the Air Force in 1980. His military decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Air Force Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters, and the National Defense Service Medal. In 1981, Bill entered Federal Civil Service. He was employed at Offutt Air Force Base at Headquarters Strategic Air Command as a management analyst and then at U.S. Strategic Command as an information technology specialist. Bill retired from Civil Service in 2006. He received the Outstanding Civilian Career Service Award and a 50-year pin for his combined military and civil service. We will remember Bill for his love of God, country, and family. Bill was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Martha, Bellevue; daughter Lisa and son-in-law Byron Olsen Jr., Bellevue; son Brian and daughter-in-law Gwen, Papillion; three grandchildren, Joshua and Elizabeth Olsen, Bellevue, and Bryce Jacobs, Omaha; other relatives, and friends. VISITATION Tuesday 5-7pm at Bellevue Memorial Chapel, 22nd and Hancock, Bellevue. FUNERAL SERVICES will be held Wednesday, November 4, at 1pm at Capehart Chapel, 25th Street and Capehart Road in Bellevue. Interment will be at Bellevue Cemetery with Military Honors by Offutt Honor Guard. The family suggests memorials to the Parkinson’s Association.
