LeWanda Bones Hicks

Hicks, LeWanda Bones Dec 15, 1934 – Jun 8, 2010 Bellevue, NE. LeWanda was born in Wheeler County, Texas to Wilburn and Gladys Rives. She graduated from high school in Borger, Texas where she met her future husband Jim Bones They were married in 1953 and were blessed with three daughters, Annette, Donna and Linda. As a military family, they lived many places and met countless lifelong friends before finally settling down in Bellevue. LeWanda then continued her education, graduating from Bellevue University, and subsequently began working for the Bellevue Public Schools where she worked for 20 years. After the death of her late husband Jim, LeWanda was reunited with long time friend, Frank Hicks, who she later married in 1995. They enjoyed their time living together in both Anderson Island, Washington and Bellevue along with lots of time spent traveling especially with their many friends. They were also active members at St. James United Methodist Church as well as being involved in many community groups. LeWanda is preceded in death by her parents; husband Jim Bones, and son-in-law Ed Dike. She is survived by her husband Frank L. Hicks; brother and sister-in-law Glyn and Mary Rives; daughters and sons-in-law Annette Dike, Omaha, Donna and Larry Janulewicz, Olathe, KS, Linda and David Denne, Griswold, IA; 9 grandchildren; one great grandson and numerous church and military friends. VISITATION Thursday June 10th 6-8pm Bellevue Memorial Chapel. Memorials to St. James United Methodist Church. FUNERAL SERVICE Friday June 11th 10am St. James United Methodist Church, Bellevue. Interment Bellevue Cemetery. Memorials to St. James United Methodist Church.
