Jon W. Banta, Jr. July 1, 1980 ~ January 13, 2016 Jon passed away at home on January 13, 2016. Jon was a long time resident of Bellevue, NE, graduating from Bellevue West High School. He was a gifted musician and was very active in the marching band. In later years he honed his skills as an excellent bartender. He was outgoing, funny, and had many, many friends in Bellevue and Omaha who were his family. Jon was affectionately known to his immediate family as Bear, a name that could not ever escape him into adulthood. Jon is survived by his father and stepmother, Jon and Margaret Banta of Tyler, TX, his mother, Linda Obregon of El Paso, TX, sister, Corina Gonzalez of El Paso, TX, sister and brother-in-law Edwina and Jason Strominger of Fountain, CO, sister Ashly Banta of Austin, TX, brother and sister-in-law Luis & Yvette Gonzalez of El Paso, TX; grandfather Aurelio Obregon of Mission, TX, as well as his niece and nephews and many aunts, uncles and cousins. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at First Presbyterian Church of Bellevue.
