Gerhold Paul Ruffner

October 11, 1924 – April 14, 2017

Age: 92

Paul was a longtime Bellevue resident raised, on the family farm in Plattsmouth. He was a WWII veteran and Purple Heart recipient. A founding member of Eastern Sarpy County Fire Department and also Wake Robin. Active in Boy Scouts, 4-H, Camp Creek Threshers, VFW, and Midwest Antique Auto Club. Paul was employed as a locksmith and marine dealer, and later retired from Johnson’s Hardware in Omaha.

Preceded in death by his parents Edwin and Madeline; first wife LaVonne Schuessler; second wife Anita Amato; brothers William and Andy; sisters Ella Mae Glup, Dorothy Rinker, and Betty Bebe.

Survived by 4 sons, John (Annette) of Morris, IL., Daniel of Bellevue, David of Plattsmouth, and James (Jean) of LaVista; 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Paul enjoyed exchanging stories. His passions were hunting, restoring tractors, stationary engines and old cars. Spent many winters in Arizona with friends and didn’t miss a Polka dance, or a golf game. He just enjoyed life, and will be deeply missed.

Visitation: 5-7:00 p.m. Monday,  April 17, 2017 at Bellevue Memorial Funeral Chapel

Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 104 Galvin Road N. Bellevue, NE

Interment: Oak Hll Cemetery, Plattsmouth, NE
Memorials: will be directed by the family

    To Paul’s family: We are sorry to hear the news of Paul’s passing. We spent many winters in Arizona with Paul and Anita. We have such fond memories of them. We have all of you in our thoughts and prayers. Dick and Sue Stewart

    Dear Ruffner family,
    I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your dad. What a special person he was. I especially remember his devotion to St Luke’s and his strong Christian faith. May all your special memories help you to smile soon.
